This article shows how to install the gas fuel pedal boot. This pesky little addition is a little difficult to get to, unless you have some of your jeep dismantled.
1. The WWII MB GPW Jeep gas pedal boot is missing in many jeeps. Probably one of the biggest reasons is its difficulty in reaching with the jeep assembled. |
2. In picture, you see the linkage is easy to get to. Removing the cotter pin releases the Gas Pedal arm and it is an easy install. But in this picture, the driver fender was removed as well as the manifold on the engine.
3. To release the gas pedal arm, remove the cotter pin from the linkage. Use a needle nose plier to crimp and pull the pin out. |
4. With the cotter pin out, push the gas pedal arm out so it lies freely.
5. From the opposite side of the firewall (near driver seat), pull back on the foot pedal. It will lie as shown here. |
6. Place the boot over the gas pedal arm as shown
7. With a screw driver, carefully push the edges on the back of the boot through the firewall hole. Be careful not to puncture the boot. Move your screw driver around the boot until you believe the back lip of the boot has been pushed through |
8. Now move back to the other side of the firewall and see that the lip of the boot is properly pulled through. You may need to use some needle nose pliers to help pull part of the lip around evenly. |
